The Hohner XB-40 is an interesting harmonica, but it’s definitely designed for expert players. It looks and feels much like the Hohner Special 20, but it is larger, which can make it more awkward to play. If you have enough knowledge and experience, that should be no problem for you. This harp has a plastic comb, not wood. So, it’s better for those who prefer the properties of plastic. This harmonica is great for bending notes, but it’s almost impossible not to bend, which means that this is a great mouth harp for playing the blues, but doesn’t have the note consistency needed for classical pieces.
PROS
Excellent for note bending
Versatility makes it almost as good as a chromatic
CONS
Not good for playing classical pieces or anything that doesn’t require bending, but great for playing the blues
