The Hohner Marine Band Steve Baker Special has been specially tuned by Steve Baker, who is both an author and an accomplished harmonica player. It’s a 14-hole, 28-reed diatonic harp. The brass reeds, pear wood comb, and stainless steel covers are designed for top performance. It is excellent for bending draw notes, thanks to the extended range and special SBS tuning. It is available in the keys of A, C, D, F, and G. So, those looking to experiment with different keys on a diatonic might really like this little harp. However, it’s really meant for a more experienced player, not a beginner.
PROS
I LOVE the low notes on this harmonica. Turns out to be super fun for chugging out rhythms even though it’s best known for its 2 octaves of lower register bending. You’ve got to try this harp. It shouldn’t be your first harmonica or your go to harmonica, but it’s so cool.
CONS
Wood comb
