Slim Harpo (born James Isaac Moore in Lousiana, January 11, 1924 – January 31, 1970): Though he worked as a truck driver, this swamp blues player was one of the most commercially successful blues artist of his time. His tunes were often recorded by bands such as Pink Floyd, the Kinks, the Rolling Stones, and the Yardbirds, and they were hits on both sides of the Atlantic. The annual Slim Harpo Music Awards in Baton Rouge commemorate his talent.
