Paul Butterfield (born in Illinois, December 17, 1942 – May 4, 1987) is a blues singer and harmonica player mostly associated with the Paul Butterfield Blues Band, which was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame. He created a blues style that was uniquely his own, preferring single notes as opposed to chords and playing his harmonica upside down (with the low notes to the right).
