Charlie Sayles was born in 1948 in Massachusetts, where he grew up as an orphan on the streets. He took up playing the harmonica in Vietnam. Returning home, he practiced every day for eight hours, studied recordings of legends, and became a legend himself in the process. He played for tips on the streets of all the big cities of music while developing his full, band-like style. “You gotta feel the music,” says Sayles.
